Kazushi Kondo, Jumpei Suzuki, Yuto Masumoto and John Cronin-McCartney have completed Master’s course. We wish them the best in their next career.

At the 30th Annual Conference of the Association for Natural Language Processing (NLP2024) held in March 2024, the presentation by our lab members, “Which shortcut does the question-answering model prioritize for learning?” (Kazutoshi Shinoda, Saku Sugawara, Akiko Aizawa), received the “NEC Award”. Frieder Simon (Oxford University),  a former internship student in our lab, gave a seminar talk under the title “Mathematical Capabilities of LLMs”. Thank you for the interesting talk.

A seminar talk was given by a former member of our lab, Dr. Yoshinari Fujinuma, under the title “Recent Trends in Multilingual NLP and Retrospective on my US PhD”. Thank you for an interesting talk.

Eduardo Sánchez, a visitor from UCL, gave a seminar talk under the title “The case for LLM-based Machine Translation”. Thank you for the interesting talk.

Seminar talks were given by three researchers from IBM research: Dr. Hiroshi Kanayama, Dr. Yang Zhao (former member of our lab, graduated in 2020) and Dr. Takuma Udagawa (former member of our lab, graduated in 2021). Thank you for interesting talks.

Seminar talks were given by two researchers from TU Braunschweig.  The talks were titled “A Tea Time Story… Musings on Narrative Information Access” (by Prof. Dr. Wolf-Tilo Balke) and ” Let your Data speak – Identifying and Assessing Data Narrations” (by Denis Nagel).
